Moms Salary

Any mom who stays at home with her kids will tell you that what she's doing is a job.

Making homemade baby food, going to the park, keeping the house clean, getting kids down for naps, and mainly spending quality time with her children is hard work--and equally stressful as that position in the marketing department.

Yet, stay-at-home moms don't get paid for all that they do.
And sadly in our highly capitalistic society, we so often judge our worth by how much money we make.

According to Moms Salary Wizard, my salary for a working Mom of 4 is: $70, 853!

But...if I was a SAHM of 4, my salary would be: $116,200!

It is the hardest job in the world. Nothing is more time consuming than   molding and shaping a future adult. Not to mention the lack of sick days you get. You are always on the go no matter what circumstances exist.

As tiring as it can be, I think all moms will agree that we love our job! With or without a salary.  For me its the most rewarding career I have....not enough money in the world could pay me to miss out on sticky kisses, endless hugs and I never get tired of hearing, "I love you Mom!"

Though a day-off once is a while is nice…

  1. Java this is a great post! The hardest thing for me being a SAHM v career woman is not being able to take a break when I most need one. I used to work long, stressful hours but if I needed to I could give myself a time out, walk down the corridor to the bathroom on my own while I thought something through or calmed down after an enraging email or phone dialogue. But as a Mom that is not possible - hey, even trying to talk on the phone at all is impossible most days and going to the bathroom involves being trailed by my toddler. I thought I worked and played really hard all those years but now I realize I was living a life of luxury. I don't regret the switch at all, but I am glad I got plenty of years in before doing so.

  2. So true. Natalie at Mommy of a Monster said that it was both the most unappreciated and most rewarding job. Great post!

  3. Not sure what to say here. I think that our society is upside down in so many ways in terms of the "pay scale." Singers, actors, athletes make the big bucks while teachers, police officers, fire fighters, etc. do not. In fact, their households usually can't run on just one salary. Both people have to work in order to feed the family. It's crazy when you think about it.

  6. I'd like some PTO and sick pay when the kids are sick. That would make up big time for cleaning up vomit. The rest is good though.

  7. LOL @ Yankee Girl's comment. I was never great at the "yuckier" parts of mommyhood, but I'd do it all again if I could. My "baby" is now 19 and in college. ♥

  8. Thank you! This is just what I needed to hear. Sometimes I feel like such an income drain rather than in income generator.
