I love Saturday morning...no schedules, no packing lunches, sleeping in!! I didn't sleep in super late today because I had to take Tall to work at 9am. When I got back, I cleaned the bathrooms, did 2 loads of laundry and made fresh chicken salad for lunch!! Short has a birthday party at 1pm and then I'm done for the day!
We all live busy lives but you always have to remember to do something for yourself. You might be a Mom, Wife, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Grandma, Friend, Co-worker but you are your own person too! You have a life and you are not put on this earth to solely devote yourself to others. If your not happy with yourself or do things that make you happy then you can't be a happy Mom, Mom, Wife, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Grandma, Friend, Co-worker!!
So take today to do something for YOU! Read a book, take a walk, go shopping, eat a cookie, condition your hair, paint your nails (don't forget the toes..its flip flop season!), take a bubble bath...anything that makes you happy!!
There are so many things you can do with your “me time“. You aren’t being selfish doing this. As a matter of fact, you would be selfish not doing it. If doing something for you is going to make you a happy and healthier mom and wife…. then it would be selfish not to give yourself some time for yourself!!
Please leave me a comment and tell me what you did for yourself today! And remember it doesn't have to be anything big...just something that makes you smile!!
I'll let you know later what I did for ME today!!

Oh you lucky woman! My day starts at 5:30am every day - someone doesn't yet know how to tell the time and when they are up then so am I!
ReplyDeleteBut you are right, we all have to do something for ourselves - however as we are in the midst of potty training for which only Mommy will do this weekend will be one of not doing so. But we are going out to dinner tonight, just my husband and I, after our daughter is safely tucked up for the night. So that is my thing for me today!
I wrote 1500 words. Then got out into the garden to dig up some of the ever expanding crop of sundrops, which I potted and left down at the bottom of my driveway with a "FREE" sign. It made me feel better to do that then to toss them into the mulch pile and it made my day when I saw one car stop and take them all. Two birds with one stone...I'm happy and the lady with the sundrops is happy too. Although she may be cursing me in about five years, when she too is giving them away...
ReplyDeleteI stayed in bed an extra hour just to work on blogging and browse Facebook! :) Later I'm finishing my book and then going clubbing! Lovely post Java!
ReplyDeleteWell.... I curled my hair before this wedding so i dont look like the usual raggamuffin!!! lol
ReplyDeleteSo far I've worked in the garden, made a spinach salad, had lunch w/hubs before he left for work, and now am going to watch 'The Road' before I get back to Saturday chores. All good:)
ReplyDeleteCoffee, croissants in BED, a bit of shopping and now the blog. Apt to myself!
ReplyDeleteI love LOVE your blog today. So true - if we don't take time for ourselves, we just get run down and grumpy and as the old saying goes "If Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!" :D
ReplyDeleteMy husband has gone to a car show today. Normally I would go with him but it's more of a "car parts show" than a car show. He likes to go for the ENTIRE day and I can only take so many moments of staring at car parts before I start feeling slightly rabid! :)
So I've got the whole day to myself and so far I've spent most of the day doing chores, but I've also taken time to start a new "make over" project on a sweet little chair I picked up last week at a garage sale. Can't wait to see how it turns out! And now I'm heading into the pool for a well-deserved break. Hope you are spoiling yourself rotten today Java! :)
I really need to do this more often. I'm always doing something for someone else or worrying about someone else... it's never ending. I did read a book today without interruption. Well, some of a book; I'm almost finished. I read it while drinking coffee, laid on the bed, enjoyed it in the living room with another cup of coffee... Oh, I think the coffee was the treat as well. I've already had three cups.
ReplyDeleteBTW: Your profile picture is beautiful. How did you get started in modeling?
Thanks for the follow! I'm following you now as well and look forward to chatting.
For me today?
ReplyDeletePretty much everything, ha! No kids at home, just spent 3 days on the beaches of Carmel, CA!
All good!
Today, I decided to let my husband pour me a drink and make me a surf and turf supper. Even if he worked today cause amen.. that's how I roll ;-)
ReplyDeleteLove and totally agree with this post! Today I let myself chill by the pool and tonight I will treat myself to a couple of adult beverages with the neighbors while they host outdoor movie night!
ReplyDeleteHow I took "me"time actually was with my whole family. We took a long bike ride with a lunch stop halfway through. We continued down to a creek where we like to skip rocks. While there, the kids wandered back up to where my husband was sitting, and I sat on one of the flat rocks in the sun, gazing at the water going by. It was such a peaceful 5 minutes of hearing nothing but distant traffic and bird song and watching the fish darting to and fro. Very nice just to reflect and soak up everything around me.
ReplyDelete(Now following)
I went with a friend to an antique mall and had a blast. rose
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog thru SITS. Love your header motto. And good for you for pursuing this at 40. I'm 37, soon to be 38. Ugh. And trying to embrace it as you have.
ReplyDeleteHi Java! My sister and her husband took me to Boston Market Saturday to eat. You know me I love to go out to eat. I hope you had a wonderful day too.
ReplyDeleteI'm late getting over here and while I do have a lot of free time for myself these days...Saturday was extra special because I spent some lazy time over a cup of coffee at Starbucks by myself thinking of the things I wanted to think about....okay, yeah - you have to be me to get that.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great reminder for me time -- and I needed it! Tonight I surfed Etsy.com just for fun!
ReplyDeleteHmmm... My "me" time was spent with hubby. In my defense, though? I NEED time with hubby right now. FOR me. :-) But, we laid in bed together and watched the end of Avatar last night.
ReplyDeleteI've seen it before, but he hadn't, so we started watching it the night before. He ended up falling asleep on it... lol So, we finished watching it last night.
But, I'm doing much better about taking "me" time, even beyond exercise time... :-)
OH! I also wanted to drop by and say that I have an award for you on my blog.
Hope you have a GREAT week, dear friend!
