Vasectomies....they work....right??

Busy, busy, busy it what's going on over here.  But I'm sure you already knew that!  I have been wanting to do an update for awhile now and Mary Ann reminded me to do this so here goes:

• My job has been going good...not great...but good and I'll take that.  I have it down packed now so that's a relief.  The other girl that was hired the same time as me is looking for another job and has already had 2 interviews.  I really get along with her and so I will be very disappointed if she leaves and plus then all the duties will fall on my shoulders which I am not looking forward to.  I know they will replace her but I may not have the connection that I have with her so I'm crossing my fingers that she sticks it out!

• The boys:  Venti and Mocha packed up their apartment and moved everything into Mocha's parents house last week because today they are moving to Chicago until mid July for his job.  When they come back they are going to get another apartment about 45 minutes from here because he will still be working out of the office in Baltimore, MD.  I know this all is for Mocha's sake so that she is closer to her family...which is 5 minutes from our house and it will make Venti's commute much longer but I figure that if he wasn't ok with it then he would speak up....or maybe he won't but I can't worry about that.  I just hope they have safe travels because they are driving to Chicago because of Dudley (their Great Dane) and it is 660 miles away.  Say a prayer for them to arrive safely!  He said they probably won't come home at all which is really sad to not see them for that long but we are going to do Skype to keep in touch!!  I tried to hold back the tears but I couldn't help it!

• Grande is currently at the local college here and has been for 2 years.  Well Tall is a senior in High School and decided to apply at Shippensburg College (an hour away) and Grande thought that he wanted to apply too and they could both go there.  Well guess what....Grande got accepted but Tall did not!  I felt so bad for Tall.  I called Shippensburg and asked them why and they said that his SAT scores were too low (he only took them once) and they suggested for him to take them again to increase his chances so he is scheduled to take them on April 9th and I am so hoping he does good so that he can go there as well because he was the one that originally wanted to go there in the first place!  Tall just turned 18 on March 20th!

•  Short is doing good. He is getting really good grades in school.  He is very sad about Venti moving away for a couple of months.  His birthday is April 20 and he will be 11.  He is into these Squinkie things and I find them all over the house!   

I was off work yesterday because Joe had to have an Endoscopy done.  He has really bad acid reflux and his brother has throat cancer so they wanted to do one as a precautionary.   They took a biopsy and he will get the results in a couple of weeks.  It was so nice having the day off!  I remember how the days used to be!  :(

Our 25th Wedding Anniversary is April 12th!  I am excited about that!  What a milestone!  I told him he is getting baby #5 because I haven't gotten my period since February 7th and he didn't think that was very funny because he had a vasectomy.  That really can't be possible...at least I hope so.  I was having all those hot flashes and now I haven't been having any.  I guess maybe I should do a pregnancy test just in case!??  Yikes!  And nooooooo.....I have not been with anyone else!  Vasectomies are guaranteed I hope!   He did get tested afterward and there were no swimmers so there shouldn't be any swimmers now!  Right!?

1.  Crunchy or soft tacos?
     
       I like crunchy beef taco but I like soft chicken tacos!  Now I'm hungry for some!!

2.  Do you scrapbook?

        I do not!  If I had the time I would!  I have done maybe two albums and it was a lot of fun....maybe someday I can do more!!

3.  Do you take daily medications? 

        I do not.  I take vitamin supplements but I currently do no have to take anything prescribed.

4.  What is your favorite sound?

      My favorite sound would have to be in the summertime listening to the katydids or cicadas.  I love summer and hearing them lets me know that it is still summertime!

5.  Where were you born?

      Right here in Pennsylvania!

My Answers!

1.  What jewelry do you wear 24/7?
     
       My wedding rings, my necklace, my nose piercing, my belly button piercing, the 2 silly bands that Short gave me and the earring in my right upper ear (cartilage)....I never take these off....okay well maybe the necklace once in awhile but then I put it right back on.

2.  Do you twirl your spaghetti or cut it?

        I cut my spaghetti!!  I am even part Italian but I'm not a twirler!

3.  How many siblings do you have? 

        I have 2 sisters.  I am the middle daughter.  My older sister is 2 years older and my younger sister is 6 years younger.

4.  Where you named after anyone?

      Yes.  I was named after my Mom's best friend whom she doesn't even talk to anymore.  I do not like my name and go by a shorter version of it.  Maybe I'll tell you one of these days!!

5.  Coke or Pepsi?

      Hands down Pepsi!  Diet Pepsi to be exact!

Wishing it all away.....

I was leaving work the other day and the elevator opened and in stood an elderly lady that I had never seen before. 

It was just the two of us riding down the 10 floors.

I sighed...

She sighed...

I said that I wished it was Friday....

She said, "no...don't do that"....

"Huh?"

"Don't do that"

"Do what?"

"Wishing like that"

"Wishing like what?"

"Wishing it was Friday"

"So what's wrong with that?"

"Your wishing your life away.....that's what we all do....I wish it was Friday...I wish it was Summer....I wish it was my vacation.....your wishing it all away....then when your older, you'll wish you were right back here where your wish first started"

I blinked a couple of times....

And I looked at her....

Really looked at her...

Her face showed heavy lines of age..

Her hair was a beautiful snowy white color waved into pin curls..

Her eyes twinkled in the dim light of the elevator..

And it was at that moment that my whole life flashed in front of me....ok...not really, but you know what I mean!

And here I was wishing it all away...

I nodded...."Your right"...I said..."I never thought of it that way.."

She smiled....the creases around her mouth deepened even further...

That elevator ride down 10 floors ALWAYS stops and picks up other passengers...

But not this time..

It didn't stop once...

This lady and I were meant to be in the elevator together...

It was meant for me to hear those words..."don't wish your life away"...

I wanted her to tell me more..I didn't want the door to open...

She opened her mouth to say something....

And the doors open and she swiftly walked out and disappeared into the crowd..

"Wait!"....I said...but she didn't hear me...

Everyday I look for her...

But I've never seen her again...

Almost like talking to an Angel...

And talking to an Angel doesn't happen every day...

So don't wish your life away....I'm not going to any more...I'm going to live in the moment...cherish every second...every minute..every day...

When you start making your days count, you'll never again have to worry again about counting the days.

Today is a gift....that's why they call it the "present".....

My Answers!

1.  Do you have a fireplace in your home?
     
       I do (pictured below) but we never use it!  I couldn't wait to have a house with one in it and we've been here for 18 years and have only used it a couple of times.  It is gas not wood which is even easier to use!

2.  Can you drive a stick shift?

        I can not!  I have never even tried it because all of our cars have always been automatic. 

3.  How many computer are in your home? 

        I embarrassed to say 6!  We each have a laptop and then there is one in the office.

4.  Are your taxes done yet?  Do you do them yourself?

      Ugh!  I do them myself...always have and started them but have yet to finish them!  I did Venti & Mocha's last weekend and now I really need to get ours done!

5.  What is your favorite meal of the day?

      I LOVE lunch! It is my favorite meal of the day!  I think about what I'm having while I'm eating breakfast which would be my second choice!

The "H" and "F" Words......

I am always cold....and I mean always.  In the summer time I can't wait to go outside and sit in my hot car....I carry a sweater with me and wear 3....yes 3 shirts to work cause its cold in there.  My Mom says its because I'm thin.  I feel like Mr. Rogers when he puts on his sweater every morning!

Until last week...

It started...

I was sitting on the couch, catching up on blog reading and it hit me....

I wasn't sure what it was at first so I didn't think much about it...

Then I was laying in bed...and it hit me again...

And then again....and again....and again....

Hot flashes!!

Omg...I even had a hard time typing that!

Hot flashes.

Something that I heard about...

But never thought I'd have any...

After all...isn't that for Old women??

Isn't that what they call perimenopause?  The stage of a woman's reproductive life that begins several years before menopause.

But I don't want to!!

That means the permanent end to my fertility!

No more babies...

I wasn't planning on having any more but I want to make that decision and this is something that I can't control.

Makes me really sad thinking about it.

How can that be possible.  I remember when I was younger and heard the term "menopause" and laughed it off thinking that was something that won't happen for many, many years....when I'm "older"....

And here I am...

How did I get to this?  I swear I was just starting my period....I didn't get mine till I was 16 years old.  My mom said she thought something was wrong and was ready to take me to the doctors.  That really was like yesterday.  I can remember it clear as day.  Thirty years ago.  Why oh why can't time stand still??  I didn't ask for this so why does it have to be?

Some women look forward to this time.  No more periods.  Good bye tampons.  I guess there are some positive things about it but right now I can't see that.  All i can think about is that the term menopause is something that happens when your older.  I'm not older in my mind...but my body isn't listening.

I'm trying to find the lighter side of all of this and really got a laugh out of this video.

My Answers!

1.  What is your favorite way to eat potatoes?
     
       Ohhhhh I LOVE potatoes but if I had to pick a favorite way to eat them I would say French Fries!!

2.  What was the last package that was delivered to your house?

        A replacement cord for the laptop that is in the office.  For some reason the computer wouldn't charge so we bought a new battery and that wasn't it so then we ordered a new cord and that was the problem!  Nothing too exciting!

3.  What is your favorite scent that you love to smell? 

        I love the smell of lilacs!  I could smell them all day!

4.  Do you smoke?

      I do not.  Never have..never will.  Joe doesn't smoke either...neither do the boys...at least that I know of!

5.  Are your parents married or divorced?

      They are married and will celebrate their 49th Wedding Anniversary this year!
