Welcome to the 33rd edition of "Meet Me On Monday!"  Blogging  is a funny thing...we tell our most intimate thoughts for all to read  and yet most of the time I find myself sitting and wondering, "who is  this person!?"  I know them...but yet I don't know them!  I want  to know who the person is behind all those words so I thought of a great  way for all of us to "meet" each other!

1.  What do you put on your hot dog?
     
      Ketchup and only ketchup!  I don't eat a lot of hot dogs...I like them on the grill the most!

2.  Do you play Sudoku?

      Nope! I don't know how!  It looks fun...maybe I should learn!!

3.  What is your favorite vegetable? 

     Asparagus! But is has to be really thin!  I won't eat it if its thick!

4.  Do you color your hair?

     Oh my yes!  I'd started getting highlightes about 10 years ago and haven't stopped since!  I go every 7 weeks!

5.  What is your favorite brand of clothing?

      I would have to say Hollister.  I love their henley tops and their sweaters!!

My Decision!

In case you missed it....start HERE.

So my boss drives up to go out to lunch and we decide on Olive Garden because it was cold and we were both in the soup mood!

I told her that I would drive and we get in the car and you can tell that she was a little nervous....image that...having your boss nervous at you!

The restaurant was less then 10 minutes away and we talked the whole way there....but not one word was said about work.

She told me my hair looked really pretty and that she liked my shirt.....hmmm...she was trying...

When we got to the restaurant, there was a 5-10 minute wait for a table so we sit down and our conversation was still about everything but work.

Our buzzer goes off and we are escorted to a table.  Drinks are ordered and my boss reaches in her bag and pulls out a folder....here we go...

She asks me why I want to leave and I tell her that you can't beat the State's pension plan...she says that they have a great 401K plan..I said that pension and 401k's are 2 different things...she agreed. 

She then asks me what other reasons I have and I told her about advancements, stability, the ability to bid on other jobs, etc.....

She then started talking...and talking...and it was then that I kinda drifted off and wasn't even really paying attention to her...not to be disrespectful but because I realized then that I wasn't interested in what she had to say...I knew then...at that moment that my decision to leave was the decision that I was going to stick with.  I felt good...confident...excited that it finally came to me that my choice was the right one and no lunch...no extra week of vacation...no salary increase would change my mind.

We were there for 1 1/2 hours! 

She told me to think about it overnight and call her in the morning.  She thanked me for meeting with her and for considering her offer.

Wednesday morning she called me before I even had a chance to call her.

"Well??  She said...have you made a decision?"

I thanked her for the opportunity and said that I was sticking with my decision to leave.  You could hear the sigh escape from her mouth.  I told her that it was nothing personal and that I appreciate everything she has done for me.  She said that she understood and said that I will do great no matter where I go and that it is a great opportunity. 

I then told her that I would help out on Saturday's and help train my replacement if she wanted me to.  She said, "you would do that?"....I said yes and she thanked me and said that would be a great help and that she really appreciated it.  She said she would put an ad in the paper and asked if I would help in the interview process.  I told her I would and said that I wanted to make the transition easy for her.  She thanked me several times and I was happy that I was able to help her out.

When I got off the phone, my employee Kate started crying.  It is just her and I that work at the store.  She was sad that I was leaving and was hoping that I would change my mind.  The rest of the day she was very quite and hardly talked.  I told her that we can't work like that for another week & 1/2 and she said that she is afraid that whoever replaces me she won't like.  I told her that she could help pick the person with me.

So I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.  I am happy about my decision and looking forward to my new job.

Decisions....Decisions!

As you know I accepted a new job position and I gave my 2 week notice yesterday.  After 3 weeks of agonizing about whether to take it or not I decided to take it and I was 100% sure about my decision....

Until I gave my notice...

I sent a really nice letter attached to an email to my boss yesterday morning and not 10 minutes later she called me...

Begging me to stay...asking me to "name my price".....she said I was a "breath of fresh air"....and "perfect" for the position and that they didn't want me to go...

Sigh...

I had made my decision and was happy about it and confident that it was the right decision...and now this...

I told her that I was thinking more long term and that a state job is much more secure then a family ran business.  I told her that I was worried that the store that I manage would eventually close which she reassured me that it wouldn't...

But of course she's going to say that!  No one really knows what will happen in say 3, 4 or 5 years from now.

She said that she wanted to come and talk to me...the main office is a little over an hour away and so she said that she wanted to come today and take me to lunch...

And woo me....

Then she called 1/2 hour later and also offered me another weeks vacation..on top of my regular vacation time..

I called my neighbor when I got home because he is a retired state worker and he said I should definitely take the state job.  He said it was a no brainer!  He said that he thought my sister's friend Becki works in the Dept. of Revenue and that I should call her.

I called her and yes she does work there and started in November.  She said that she would be on the 4th floor as well and was excited about me working there.  She also said that I would not regret taking the job.

Hmmmmm....now of course my head is spinning...what to do...what to do...

So my lunch meeting is today at 12:00pm.  I am 99% sure of my decision to still leave in 2 weeks....but I'll still listen to what she has to say...and enjoy my free lunch!!

I wonder what she will have to say...will I change my mind??

1.  What is your favorite kind of fudge?
     
      Give me some plain old chocolate!  I do not like nuts or anything else mixed in!  Just some good olde creamy fudge!!

2.  Is there snow outside your window?

      Blah!  Yep there is.  Probably about 5-6 inches and more expected on Wednesday!  Boo!  Come on Spring!

3.  What is your favorite meal of the day? 

     Definitely lunch!  I look forward to it everyday!  In fact, when I'm eating lunch I'm thinking about what I'm going to have the next day!

4.  Do you text on your cell phone?

     Oh my goodness yes!  I'd be lost without it!  In fact, I text the boys even in the house!  lol....texting sure does make it easier to communicate!

5.  Waffles or pancakes?

      I LOVE both of them, but if I had to choose, I would pick pancakes!  And a couple of chocolate chips thrown in them sure doesn't hurt!!

Emergeny - Easy Pass!

They are starting to know me on a first name basis at the ER.  I seem to frequent there lately!  Maybe they have Easy Pass!  Friday morning I woke up around 3:00am with severe stomach pains.  I tried Gas X, Tums...nothing worked.  It got worse and worse...finally around 4:30am I called Joe to come home from work and take me to the hospital...he didn't answer his phone!  Finally around 5:00am he answered and by then I could hardly talk!  I managed to tell him that he needed to come home asap!  He got home around 5:20am and he took one look at me and said we needed to go to the ER.  He helped get me dressed and out the door we went.  I could hardly walk and he had to get a wheelchair when we got there.

I didn't sit there very long and they took me back...but then I laid there for what seemed like forever...apparently they were on change of shift and so I had to wait.  In the meantime, the nurse put an IV in and took about 6 vitals of blood.  I had to go to the bathroom from all the IV fluids they were putting in me and shortly after that I started to feel better.

The doctor finally came in around 7:30am and said that all my bloodwork looked good except for one tiny thing with my liver and thought that I had a gallstone!  I said that I was feeling better after I went to the bathroom and she said that it probably passed.   She sent me for an ultrasound which did show that I had a gallstone!   I was at the hospital till around 11:00am...went home and got something to eat and then went in to work for 1/2 day because I had just been off that Tuesday with the flu!  I didn't feel good but I had to go in.

Speaking of work.  I have decided to take the new job!!  I am giving my 2 week notice on Monday and have a feeling that its not going to go over so well.  My boss is located at our main office which is over an hour away so I have decided to type up an email and send it to her vs. calling her because that way I can say all I need to say and I want them to know that I'm not leaving because of personal reasons, but because its a better opportunity.  I have thought long and hard about this and feel that I am ready to be done with the responsibilities of the manager duties.  I really would much rather be a stay at home mom, but that is not possible for me right now.

I am looking forward to my new job and just hope and pray that I made the right decision.  Which me luck!!  I will keep you posted!

I just learned something the other day and wanted to pass the information along to you.

What you might not know is that if you don't have the correct setting for your Google Friend Connect, then others won't be able to find your blog if they click on your profile!

To make sure this doesn't happen, check your settings:

After you follow a new blog, click on yourself in the Google Friend Connect box.

Click on SETTINGS

Click on ADD LINKS

Add the URL of your blogs address and your blog name in the Link name box

Click the ADD button

Now your blog is linked to your profile!!

      I would either it any of those ways but if I had to choose I would pick a waffle cone!!

2.  Do you read the newspaper daily?

      I can't even tell you the last time I read the newspaper!!  Joe loves reading it but I never can find the time to read it...plus most of it is depressing anyhow.

3.  Marinara or meat sauce? 

     Definitely meat sauce!

4.  Last time you cried?

     Last week during Desperate Housewives when Gabby was missing her birth daughter....I cry during TV shows a lot...lol...

5.  What word/phrase do you find really annoying?

      Hmmmm that's a tough one because there are probably several that I can think of!!  The first thing that came to mind was when someone says, "Yes Ma'am" to me...I just don't like the sound of it...I think because it makes me feel old!  lol..

Paper or Plastic?

I am feeling much better thank you for all the get well wishes!  Short was sick Sunday and Monday and then Grande and I were sick Tuesday.  As fast as it came, it left but what a long 24 hours that was.  I had to miss a day of work which I do not like to do, but I definitely couldn't go in to work!  I am still trying to decide that to do and I LOVE all the comments that you guys have give me and appreciate it immensely!  They have really helped me with my decision and I will be reading them and re-reading them for more insight!  Thank you again!

Speaking of being sick....not only was I sick, but I had my period as well....a week early.. nice.....  How fun is that?  And not only that, but I go to get out a Tampon when I realize the box is empty....that's what I get for not getting a box when there's a couple left....
I have to have some somewhere!!!
So look under the sink searching....why do I have so many bottles of shampoo...enough to wash 100 heads and no tampons???  

There has got to be some here!

Half smashed from the economy sized Mr. Bubbles that they boys don't use anymore..
Okay....need to clean out under the sink...on the check list....
I grab it quickly as I'm getting lightheaded from bending over and not feeling good and trying to squeeze my legs together...
I was almost giddy because I had a spare box....
I said almost...
Cause how giddy can one be when they are sick with the flu...AND have their period...
So I waddle back to the toilet and sit down and eagerly rip open the box....
I try and focus on the box....
They do kinda look a little.....ummm....old...
OMG.....
They are old....
CARDBOARD applicator tampons????
I'd rather wad up some toilet paper and stick it in my underwear then use these!
Especially the old ones....you know...without the "groves"......
They hurt...
No more explanation needed...
You know what I'm talking about...
So I sit there for a couple more minutes...feeling like I really needed to lie down...
Pondering my decision...
I needed to decide quickly before I fall off the toilet and Joe comes in and finds me laying there looking like I was in a crime scene...
So I go for it...
Not a pretty scene...

Its been two days now and I haven't gotten to go to the store yet....
And I swear for every tampon I take out of that box....two more are added...

Its the endless box of cardboard tampons...

Joe does the grocery shopping during the week because he works nights and is home during the day....
I am sending him to the store tomorrow for PLASTIC tampons...

Cause he would do that for me....

Mostly because then he won't have to listen to me complain about them anymore....

And the other 20+ that are left in the box...anyone want them???

I got it!!

The job offer!!  If you remember back in December I had a job INTERVIEW.....well they called yesterday and offered me the job!!

So now I have a decision to make.  I don't dislike the job that I have now but I am a store manager which comes with a lot of responsibilities and stress which is why I left my last job!  I have goals I have to meet, meetings to attend and budgets to keep.  I didn't start as the store manager and was just promoted in October after being there for 3 months because the other manger quit.  I currently work for a beauty supply distributor which is the field that I have an interest in since I have my cosmetology license.  The new job is working for the Dept. of Revenue in the personal taxes department...working at a computer...which I love the computer!  Parking is an issue and would cost $145 a month.  The salary is pretty much the same for both jobs so I don't have to factor that in.

The future is probably better at the Dept. of Revenue but I have so much flexibility where I work now.  If I want to come home for lunch I can...or pick Short up at school or run an errand...but I won't be able to do that at the new job....but there is way more room for advancement at the new job and none at the job I am at. 

What to do...what to do....I accepted the new job because they don't want me to start until February 7th so I have time to really think about it.   I wouldn't have to give my notice until January 24th.
I just don't want to make the wrong decision!

How does one decide??  I know some people make a list and I tried that...but it was equal.

Any insight you would have I'd love to hear!!!

My Answers!

1.  Have you (only you...not a group) ever won first place in anything?
     
      In 6th Grade I won first place in Fire Prevention Poster week!  I won place in Beauty School in a competition for "Wet Set Evening Comb-out."   I also won first place in the desert contest at our family reunion...I made Strawberry Pie and the funny thing was that I didn't even bake the crust!  It was a frozen crust and I didn't know you had to cook it first!  I was newly married and we still laugh at that!

2.  Are your toes always painted (sorry guys...this question for girls only)?

      I try too but right now I am slacking!!  I took the polish off them about 2 weeks ago because they were chipping and I haven't had a chance to re-do them!  This is a good reminder to do so!

3.  What color eyes do you have? 

     Blue!

4.  Look to your left.....what do you see?

     I am currently in my "spot" on the couch so on my left is the fireplace and TV.

5.  Soft cookies or crunchy cookies?

     Crunchy!!  I love when they are baked just a bit longer then normal!  I especially love crunchy Peanut Butter Cookies and Chocolate Chip!!  Yum!
