You are not going to believe this.....I was trying on my dress last night and when I sat down to put my shoes on I thought it felt tight in the thigh area....so I lifted up the top layer and saw that the under layer was what was causing the tightness.....I thought I could just snipe a little of the fabric to loosen it.....that would have been fine and dandy, but I ended up snipping the top layer in the process!!! I am so upset!
I have been in tears since! I tried to sew it but it was very noticeable. I have no choice but to head out to the stores and try to find something. The dress I've had for months and fell in love with is ruined.....:(

Oh my! How heartbreaking. You've worked so hard at getting that dress to fit perfectly. Good luck finding a new one.
ReplyDeleteOh, Java! I feel so bad for you. I wish you were closer so I could take a look at it. If you don't find anything, e-mail me pix and I can try to coach you online. I've done many repairs. I have actually clipped the wrong thing late at night and given myself a real challenge or two. Thankfully, this didn't happen the day before or something like that!
ReplyDeleteOh my! I don't believe it!
ReplyDeleteJava..I'm so sorry to hear this! I feel sick for you ! I hope you can get it fixed!!
ReplyDeleteIs there a way u can fuse the top layer back? if the cut is small, fusible tape could work
ReplyDeleteJava, I am so so sorry. I can only imagine how you must feel. I do hope you can find another dress that you love quickly. In the meantime, do you think it would be worth a try to take it back to the alterations lady and see if she could possibly fix it to where it isn't noticeable?
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about your disaster, and I hope you find another perfect dress. It seem like every wedding has at least one disaster, so I hope this gets that out of the way for this wedding.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry -- we've all had our fashion-related heartbreaks, and they are tough to take. I agree, though, that taking the dress to a professional alterations person might be the way to go. You'd be amazed at what they can do! Good luck.
ReplyDeleteOh no, I can't believe it. Do you think it's really ruined for good? Sometimes fate throws stuff at us for a reason. Hope you get in perfect dress in the end.
ReplyDeleteOh no! I can't believe it, after all that....maybe Jeanie is right, and this is just that ONE wedding disaster and it's out of the way.
ReplyDeleteOr, maybe the BEST dress is out there and you just didn't know it?! So sorry...
You might find something you like even more. Or maybe she can fix it somehow. Don't give up yet..I'm sure it will all work out. The important thing is you are going to have a great time and the memories. I'm sure you will look beautiful in anything, even a simple dress.
ReplyDeleteCarol-the gardener
((HUGS)) I am so sorry. Praying that you found something perfect and you have a wonderful time at the wedding.
ReplyDeleteso sorry to hear that, but think positive: the rip is better now than in the middle of the wedding! If it was a little tight chances are it was going to happen while dancing or at any sudden move. And now you get to go shopping for a new dress with a justified reason ;)
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear this. These things happen at the worst possible times, for sure. Hopefully, you'll get something worked out in time, and look stunning as usual!
ReplyDeleteHang in.........
Terri
Oh NO! I'm so sorry!
ReplyDeleteOh, my. That's just awful, girl! I hope you find something that you totally fall in love with when you go shopping...and this will then be just a memory to laugh about one day.
ReplyDeleteOh Java, I can just feel your emotions through your words. Please think as positive and as beautifully as you always do and hopefully something worthy will be found! Having been through 3 children's weddings, I know that you're under a lot of stress, but just remember, you're beautiful in anything! And everyone knows this too, that will be at the wedding. Love you and thinking of you! Roz
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I would certainly talk to the seamstress before you give up hope. I know you loved the dress, but there is a way somehow to fix it.
ReplyDeleteOh, no no no! FIrst try and take it back to your fairy godmother and give her a go at it okay! She might be able to work some magic!!!!
ReplyDeleteI would be crying my eyes out too! It took a good month to find my dress for my son's wedding, I know how frustrating it is.
ReplyDeleteSure hope you find a dress just like it or better.
ugh! hugs and best wishes
ReplyDeleteOh, Java, I know this must be horribly upsetting. Can Ms. Scissorhands fix this? Or do you absolutely have to buy a whole new dress? I know that you were so relieved to have found the dress you wanted and have it ready to go. My heart goes out to you. (((Big Hug)))
ReplyDeleteOh no! Guess it's too late to try to get in touch with the seamstress? My heart is going out to you, girl!
ReplyDeleteJava, I just had an idea. I've done this very thing before. Your sewing lady could sew some type of applique or lace over the area and in another two or three spots to coordinate them and make it look like it was all part of the design.
ReplyDeleteOH NO! How awful. I hope you find something that is equally as stunning and that you love.
ReplyDeleteOh Java! Could Debby Scissorhands fix it?
ReplyDeleteOh Java, I am so sorry to hear about your dress. I hope you find one that is just as beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh, that is so sad. Sounds like something that would happen to me! No wonder you were in tears! Hope you can find something you like even better!
ReplyDeleteThat would suck beyond all suckiness.
ReplyDeleteI KNOW how you would be feeling. I have married off 5 kids....and MY DRESS was as important to me as the brides dress was to her.
It. Is. A. Big. Deal.
