Sad Day..

Joe, Short and I spent 3 hours last night waiting in line at a funeral....

The funeral of a 50 year old man..

That 50 year old man was the father of Chase...

Chase is Short's best friend...

Short spent many days with Chase's Dad...

He was sick...he passed away due to liver complications...

Chase's Mom is a widow....at 44 years old...

Short had never seen someone that had passed away...

He broke down in tears when he saw the casket...

Chase was there for Short....hugged him like a friend would hug another friend...

2 ten year olds....consoling each other...

It broke my heart to see Chase gaze up at Short's Dad...

Chase will not have his father attend his graduation...his wedding...see the birth of his children...

I am sad....

Rest in Peace

God saw you getting tired
and a cure was not meant to be,
So he put his arms around you
and whispered "Come to Me".
With tearful eyes we watched you,
as we saw you pass away.
Although we loved you deeply,
we could not make you stay.
Your Golden Heart stopped beating,
hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.

  1. That's so sad! Isn't it amazing, how through his pain, Chase would be able to comfort Short. I'm all teared up and probably will be as I make breakfast this morning. I'll keep all those hurting with this loss in my prayers!

  2. That is so sad and tragic. It is a reminder of what is important. There is no comfort that short can bring Chase other than to let him know that he will be there for him.

  3. My heart goes out to you. My prayers are with you and your family as well as their family.

Always remember that children are resilient. They do go on. I've seen that myself. I lost my husband a long time ago. But his daughter is still strong. She lost him at 10 years old as well.

  4. I am so sorry he had to witness that... I remember my brother broke down at our Grandfather's wake... Funerals are so complicated for adults, I can';t imagine what goes thru a child's mind... I because a widow 9 years ago and at the time my youngest was 9 ... My other two were 18 and 19... They are not kidding when they say we are constantly learning life lessons... this one is a hard one for your son and his friend.

  10. So sorry for your loss. As we've mourned the loss of Mom Lunt, I am trying to remember a sentiment I heard, "Don't mourn that it's over, celebrate that it was." We were lucky to have these great people in our lives.

    Warmly, Michelle

  20. It always hard to see people pass on who are young. Who have so much to live for and so much living still to do. Chase will always remember how Short stood with him in that moment. They shared something that will last forever. It is the stuff that friendships that last are built on. Hang in there, Java, and love with an open hand and hope.

  24. I lost my mum and sister. I know what that boy's feeling. BUT at a young age, we are resilient. So tragic, yes. Sad, most definitely.
But Java, understand this when I say it. His age will help him go through it much better than we adults can.
It's STILL heart-wrenching though, anyway you look at it. :-(
    Condolences to that family.

  27. This brought tears to my eyes. In jr. high, one of my best friends lost her father suddenly to a heart attack. That was the first viewing I had ever been to...open casket. I kept expecting him to jump up and tell me it was all just a joke. Prayers going out to Chase and his family.

  32. This brings tears to my eyes! We have been to 3 funerals with the kids in the last 6 months...hubby's cousin, a 6 year old friend from school and my uncle...my grandma will be next since she has cancer and is 98...

My heart goes out to Chases mom...I can't imagine at 44 being a widow. I am saying some prayers for the family right now!
