The funeral of a 50 year old man..
That 50 year old man was the father of Chase...
Chase is Short's best friend...
Short spent many days with Chase's Dad...
He was sick...he passed away due to liver complications...
Chase's Mom is a widow....at 44 years old...
Short had never seen someone that had passed away...
He broke down in tears when he saw the casket...
Chase was there for Short....hugged him like a friend would hug another friend...
2 ten year olds....consoling each other...
It broke my heart to see Chase gaze up at Short's Dad...
Chase will not have his father attend his graduation...his wedding...see the birth of his children...
I am sad....
Rest in Peace
God saw you getting tired
and a cure was not meant to be,
So he put his arms around you
and whispered "Come to Me".
With tearful eyes we watched you,
as we saw you pass away.
Although we loved you deeply,
we could not make you stay.
Your Golden Heart stopped beating,
hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.
and a cure was not meant to be,
So he put his arms around you
and whispered "Come to Me".
With tearful eyes we watched you,
as we saw you pass away.
Although we loved you deeply,
we could not make you stay.
Your Golden Heart stopped beating,
hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.
That's so sad! Isn't it amazing, how through his pain, Chase would be able to comfort Short. I'm all teared up and probably will be as I make breakfast this morning. I'll keep all those hurting with this loss in my prayers!
ReplyDeleteThat is so sad and tragic. It is a reminder of what is important. There is no comfort that short can bring Chase other than to let him know that he will be there for him.
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to you. My prayers are with you and your family as well as their family.
ReplyDeleteAlways remember that children are resilient. They do go on. I've seen that myself. I lost my husband a long time ago. But his daughter is still strong. She lost him at 10 years old as well.
I am so sorry he had to witness that... I remember my brother broke down at our Grandfather's wake... Funerals are so complicated for adults, I can';t imagine what goes thru a child's mind... I because a widow 9 years ago and at the time my youngest was 9 ... My other two were 18 and 19... They are not kidding when they say we are constantly learning life lessons... this one is a hard one for your son and his friend.
ReplyDeleteVery sad. I will be keeping that family in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteWhat that little boy must being going through we will never know .. he is blessed to have your wonderful son by his side! I will keep both boys and families in my prayers!!! XO HLL
ReplyDeleteSo sad. Your post is very touching. I prayed for Chase and his Mom and your sweet Short too. May God surround them with comfort and healing.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kat
What a sad story. I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm glad you could all be there to support Chase.
ReplyDeleteSo very sad, I'm so sorry for the loss.
ReplyDeleteThe poem is so beautiful!
I will keep you all in my thoughts.
So sorry for your loss. As we've mourned the loss of Mom Lunt, I am trying to remember a sentiment I heard, "Don't mourn that it's over, celebrate that it was." We were lucky to have these great people in our lives.
ReplyDeleteWarmly, Michelle
I am so sorry for Chase and his family and Short. My thoughts and prayers will be with you all.
ReplyDeleteJust wrote a post on all the sadness I had seen in the last month....may never publish it....Life hurts and somedays much more than others...Praying for your family..
ReplyDeleteI'm praying for Chase & his family as they begin this difficult path they now find themselves traveling. I will pray for Short too & the pain he experiences. And I will be praying for you & your husband as you help both Short AND Chase in dealing with these emotions & trying to the "new normal" that life now has become. Hugs ~ Merana
ReplyDeleteI am sending lots of prayers for Chase and his family. Such a heartbreaking story. Short is a very special friend. Chase will remember his comfort for the rest of his life.
ReplyDeleteRIP a beautiful set of words-a sad dose of reality for a ten year old-will say a prayer
ReplyDeletePrayers and thoughts go out to all.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, that's so sad:( That's just way too young to go and way too young to be widowed. Prayers:)
ReplyDeleteLove, light and prayers for this family and the lives forever changed.
ReplyDeletedefinitely very sad. I hate having to attend funerals like that, and equally sad for your sweet 10-year-old. Hold him close...
ReplyDeleteIt always hard to see people pass on who are young. Who have so much to live for and so much living still to do. Chase will always remember how Short stood with him in that moment. They shared something that will last forever. It is the stuff that friendships that last are built on. Hang in there, Java, and love with an open hand and hope.
ReplyDeleteIt's just sad. I'll be praying for Chase and his family as well as Short and the rest of you.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you all...
My heart goes out to you and Chase's family. It's so very sad to see life cut short at such a young age.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you!
I'm so sorry to hear this. The thought of any young boy growing up without his dad is so sad.
ReplyDeletePraying for God's peace for all of you.
I lost my mum and sister. I know what that boy's feeling. BUT at a young age, we are resilient. So tragic, yes. Sad, most definitely.
ReplyDeleteBut Java, understand this when I say it. His age will help him go through it much better than we adults can.
It's STILL heart-wrenching though, anyway you look at it. :-(
Condolences to that family.

That is so terribly sad for the entire family. That poor boy, losing his father so young.
ReplyDeleteFacing death is always sad...but for a 10 year old, must be terrible. My condolences for the family; thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThis brought tears to my eyes. In jr. high, one of my best friends lost her father suddenly to a heart attack. That was the first viewing I had ever been to...open casket. I kept expecting him to jump up and tell me it was all just a joke. Prayers going out to Chase and his family.
ReplyDeleteYour story makes me remember my dad! RIP
ReplyDeleteThat is SO sad. I’ll be praying for Chase and his family – and for Chase and Short as they work through their grief. I’m glad they were able to be at the funeral, though, to start saying good-bye.

So sorry, this is so very sad. I hate when my kids have to see how life really works sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry, that is incredibly tragic.
ReplyDeleteThis brings tears to my eyes! We have been to 3 funerals with the kids in the last 6 months...hubby's cousin, a 6 year old friend from school and my uncle...my grandma will be next since she has cancer and is 98...
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to Chases mom...I can't imagine at 44 being a widow. I am saying some prayers for the family right now!
I'm so terribly sorry. What a hard, hard day. Let me know what to do if you need something. I'm here.
