Meet Me on Monday!!

Welcome to the 36th edition of "Meet Me On Monday!"  Blogging  is a funny thing...we tell our most intimate thoughts for all to read  and yet most of the time I find myself sitting and wondering, "who is  this person!?"  I know them...but yet I don't know them!  I want  to know who the person is behind all those words so I thought of a great  way for all of us to "meet" each other!

1.  What are you wearing right now?
     
       According to Nan I needed to post a picture of me in my frumpy old sweats!  So this question is appropriate because today I am wearing my Nike pants (not sweats...but close!) my favorite slippers and 2 long sleeve shirts because I'm always cold...except lately I've been having these heat flashes...more on that in another post!

2.  Do you have any freckles?

      I sure do!  Thanks to my Dad and my Grandma!  I used to hate them but now I don't mind them as much! 

3.  What is your favorite Lifesaver flavor? 

     I love me some Butter Rum!!!  Yum!

4.  What is the last movie you saw in the theater?

      Last week Joe and I took Short and his friend to see Big Momma's House 3.  I love Martin Lawrence!

5.  Would you rather live without Tv or Music?

      Definitely music!  I can't miss my reality shows!!

UPDATE:  Since everyone has been emailing me about the ever popular "Meet Me On Monday", I will STILL be hosting this wonderful meme!!  AND I will also post the FOLLOW FRIDAY 40 and Over linky.  I feel like these 2 are the most important and will continue to run these.

Plus I will do personal posts every now and then to update everyone on my life!!

Never Say Goodbye...

Say "see you later" instead.  That is the motto I am going to live by.  I am very passionate about my blog and even more so in all the friends that I have made.  I always wanted this blog to be about enjoying it and I do but it has gotten to the point that I feel like I can no longer maintain it to what I would like it to be.  I am finding trouble keeping it updated, all the blog hops, emails etc.  If I was a stay at home Mom or working part-time then it wouldn't be a problem but working full-time and having a large family AND finding time to blog just isn't feasible anymore.  In my last job I could get on the internet at work and do some updates, correct the linky's etc. but the job I am working now does not have internet and so when I get home I don't have enough hours in the evening to do the things needed at home and find time to blog as well.

So it is with a heavy heart that I am writing this and telling you that I will be taking a break for awhile.  I feel like I'm neglecting my family and life is too short to be missing out on all the little things.  I will still be checking in and reading your blogs as well as posting updates about me and the family every now and then.

I hope that you can understand.  Hugs to you all and please don't forget about me as I am still here and hopefully things will change down the road and I can get back to blogging on a daily basis!!

For all those that did/are having trouble with the linky for the Meet Me On Monday meme, the website is having major problems.  I sent him an email and this was his response:

I’m VERY sorry.. I’m having significant troubles with my hosting provider.. this “upgrade” has had nothing but problems and I’m REALLY stressed out over it. I’m working as hard and fast as I can to actually roll back the upgrade to get the site working again, and give me time to figure out what to do longterm. I got bad advice from my hosting company and like the waiter who shows up with burnt food, I’m getting the fallout for what the cooks have done.

 I apologize as well because everyone was having trouble linking up.  There is obviously nothing I can do but I do feel bad and I have been trying to log in to fix those that had trouble linking up but I too haven't been able to access the site.  Hopefully they will get this fixed so we can get back to having fun!!

       So far I've gotten flowers from Joe...he says there is more coming!

2.  What is your favorite topping on something toasted?

      I love Strawberry Jelly!!  Yum!

     I do!  Mostly because I have to.  Joe works nights and gets home around 5:15am and gets in bed around 5:45am so I don't want to make any extra noise when I get up at 6:45am so I get my things picked out the night before.

     Broccoli!  I can't even stand the smell of it!  Blah!

Never Assume...

I have often made the mistake of assuming. Life has taught me my assumptions are often flawed. I hope I am getting better as I get older.

But then I went and "assumed" something.

A VERY good friend of mine, Eileen that I have been friends with since the 9th grade has a son the same age as Tall and they are in the same school...same grade...but they are not friends.  Her son Conner said something on Facebook about me that I saw.  It was something about him wishing he could "do something" with me....if you know what I mean.  I'm sure he didn't mean anything by it....well I "assumed" he didn't.  Other boys then started commenting about it and I was getting embarrassed for Tall because he goes to school with these kids.  I only happen to see this because I was on my fake Facebook profile creeper on my kids....lol...

So I email my friend and tell her that Conner has been saying things about me on Facebook and could she have him delete them?  She got right back to me and apologized and said she would take care of it right away.  Not long after that everything was deleted and I "assumed" all was okay.

This was June 2009.

I didn't hear from my friend again.

I sent her several emails....and nothing.

When it was time to send out the Wedding invitations for Venti's wedding I didn't know what to do.  I hadn't spoke to Eileen in over a year. 

She didn't return my emails....

So what did I do? 

Invite her?

But she isn't talking to me.....or so I assumed.

Yes I assumed she didn't want to talk to me or she would have emailed me back....right??

I didn't send her an invitation. 

2 months after the wedding I get an email from Eileen.  Asking how I was....then she proceeds to tell me that the past year has been really tough....her husband's job was downsized....they didn't have internet access (hence the no replies to my emails)....and their house is in foreclosure!   The house that they just built 5 years ago.

She asked about the Wedding.....

I felt terrible....

I told her that I hadn't heard from her and I "assumed" she was mad at me for something....

She said she was just embarrassed by what was happening in their life and that's why I didn't hear from her...

I said that I should have called her...

She said she should have called me...

So because I "assumed" something that wasn't....my best friend didn't get to see my son get married.

I can't change it.  Its in the past.

We both vowed to never let this happen again.

We met for dinner last week and I brought the wedding pictures.  She oohed and aahed over them and I felt a lump in my throat.

Never assume....

Making assumptions is something we all do in many areas of our lives. An assumption is “something taken for granted or accepted as true without proof.” In other words, it is belief without proof.

Job Update and a Tuesday Tip!!!

Happy Tuesday!  I am heading out the door for my second day of work!!

Yesterday went GREAT!  Two other girls started the same day so it was really nice to have 2 others in the same boat as me!  I'm not the only "new" girl!  They are both really nice as well as everyone else that I met.  There are only 13 in our department so I don't have too many names to remember!  I didn't do very much...in fact I was BORED!  Our boss said she "hopes" to have more work for us tomorrow.  I wish they would just start training us already so I can start learning and the day will go faster and I could get into the daily routine of what I'm going to be doing.   I wasn't nervous at all and knew I made the right decision even before I got there!   I'll keep you posted!  Thank you all again for all the good luck wishes!!!

Is Your Laundry Making You Sick?

Empty the washer ASAP!!!

Why?  Protect against germs!! 

Bacteria flourish in wet areas, so take clothes out within 30 minutes of a completed cycle; if they sit for an hour, rewash the load. But wouldn’t just-laundered clothes be germ free, you wonder? Not necessarily.  These days, many people are trying to save energy and money by washing with cold water, but harmful bacteria can easily survive in it.   Research shows 25% of home washing machines contain fecal bacteria. Although the strains of E. coli found were fairly harmless, their presence alone indicates that bacteria and viruses can linger on laundry.

Use hot water to kill germs, but cold is better for energy bills—and the planet. To help protect your family, don’t overload the washer, so detergent can penetrate all the fabric; and wash your hands after removing wet clothes so you don’t spread lingering germs. The dryer’s heat will kill most of the remaining bugs.

Wash undies alone!!

Why?   Protect against germs!

Not surprisingly, the primary source of fecal bacteria in a washer is underwear. It’s best to do underwear in a separate cycle, with hot water and regular or color-safe bleach. And once a week, run an empty cycle with only a cup of bleach. That prevents bacteria from hanging out in the drum.

Air out your washer!!

Why? Reduce allergens!

Mold spores are always present in the air to some degree, but when they find a wet surface (say, the inside of a washer), they can settle in and multiply. Exposure to mold can cause congestion, itchy eyes, and wheezing; if you’re asthmatic or allergic, they can trigger an attack. To prevent mold from growing in your machine and then transferring to your clothes, when you finish your laundry, prop the door open to air it out and dry off any. Be extra diligent with front loaders—they use rubber gaskets to seal the water inside, and mold often grows on it.

      We went to my parents house with my sisters and their families and a couple of friends.  There was lots of food and fun.  The Superbowl of course was on but I was more interested in the commercials and the Black Eyed Peas!!

2.  What is the last book that you read?

      Something Blue!  It is part of a series and I have the others ones ready and waiting for me to read!!

3.  What is your favorite kind of cake? 

     Ohhhhhhh I love cake!!!!  Hard to choose but I would have to say Chocolate Cake with Peanut Butter Icing!

4.  Do you snore?

     Joe has never said that I snore but I think I might breathe heavy once in a while...:)  He is the snorer in our house!

5.  Do you play an instrument?

      Nope!  I took some piano lessons when I was younger but not enough to remember.  I wish I could play something!

Follow Friday 40 and Over!!

Happy Friday everyone! Have I told you lately how much you all mean to me? You are all such a wonderful group of friends...I feel like I've known you for a long time and its a nice little group we have here isn't it?? We are all lucky to have each other and share in our life experiences!!!

Today is my last day of work as the store manager!  I start my new job Monday at the Dept. of Revenue.  I am super excited!  It has been a really stressful week.  They haven't replaced me yet and are still interviewing for it.  I was unsure about my decision, but after this week I am 110% sure that I made the right decision and couldn't be happier about it!  I will let you know on Tuesday how my first day went!

Tonight is my sister's 40th birthday party.  Then tomorrow is Short's last basketball game...Sunday is a Superbowl party at my parents house with family and friends..and then my new job Monday.  Lots going on!!

The End of Blog Hops? Update!!

I love hosting the blog hops for everyone and even though they are a lot of work and are time consuming I really do enjoy hosting them but now I'm in a dilemma.  The website that I use for the blog hops has now decided to charge for these hops!  I found out yesterday and tried using another blog hop site that didn't go very well (those of you that tried linking up yesterday to Wordless Wednesday are witness to that!).

So I have until February 7th to pay the $24.00 for the yearly fee.  Here is what I read when I logged in to the linky site:
