He's home!!!

Just a quick update to let you know that my Dad came home on Friday!!  He is doing just okay.  He hasn't improved much and looks like a fragile older man.  It is really sad and I'm hoping that he strengthens back up and gets stronger and stronger.  He has lost 25 lbs.  He is going to the doctors tomorrow so maybe they will be able to do something for him.

I have been SUPER busy with him and Grande and Tall are leaving on Thursday together for college!  They are both going to the same college for the first time!  Grande went to a community college for 2 years and so now him and Tall are heading out together.  Their college is only an hour away but I can't imagine going from 3 kids to 1!!  It is going to be difficult and Short is going to miss them as well.  I have been running around trying to get everything they need and that is a task in itself because everything I have to get 2 of everything....my checkbook is being emptied by the minute!  It took me awhile to get their student loans figured out and I think that is all set.  Whew.....one of these days I will be able to take a breather!

Trying to prepare myself for Thursday....keep me in mind and know that I won't have a dry eye all day.....

  3. I agree, having your Dad home is an improvement. Hopefully, now that he is in his own surroundings, he will gain strength and pounds!
Good luck on sending your two boys to college, I will be thinking about you. At least you still have Short at home!

    Take care, my friend.

  7. I am glad your Dad is home. My Dad drank something when he was sick called "resource". It's like ensure but I think it's triple the caloric intake. We're in Canada so not sure if it's where you are. But thought I'd mention it. I swear it's what turned my Dad around for so long. And he liked the taste of it too. So that was a bonus.

Good luck with Grande and Tall. Mine are both doing University this year but local. They have both informed me they are going away next year though so yikes. And daughter is joining the army. Double yikes.

I'll be thinking about you this week.

  11. Sounds like your life has been very stressful lately. I took a several month break from blogging due to four surgeries between my husband and I, my father's death and my son's wedding.

It will be hard to leave your son's at college. I hope they adjust well and enjoy their school year.
    Good luck to you!

  13. Aw> Your poor Dad and you too. I feel awful watching that happen and not being fast enough or able to run to stop it from happening. Glad he is able to be home now. Your poor Mom too. I will be thinking of you this week. We had our own hard summer with my Mom. It was beyond difficult while she was ill and in a different city too. Now she is here and getting a bit better.

  15. Glad to hear your dad is home. The only advice I can offer is to take advantage of all offers and programs like physical therapy and visiting nurses.

Everybody loses weight in the hospital with all that nasty food! (Maybe I should use that as a diet technique?) Don't worry, he will gain it right back and it will be a-ok! The most important thing is that he is home now! YAY!

Okay, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE check your email because I am sending you a very important message in a couple of minutes okay??? I need a favor, or I am hoping you wil do me a favor. Please look and read java?

  24. I truly believe everything happens for a reason & maybe the Lord saved your Dad from something worse when the dog ran out & made your Dad fall. Praise be. Now plus you have two of your babies leaving you & only one child around, but maybe that was planned too so you'd be able to have more time for your Dad. You see everything happens for s reason. I believe you're a strong girl, so keep your chin up & maybe it's a good thing that your Dad lost a few pounds. Everything happens for a reason love! It's not good to be overweight at his age right! Now get him walking & tone him up! All the ladies will be making eyes at him soon! Uh-oh Where's your Mommy? She better keep her eyes on that handsome devil! lol hugs Java you & your family are in my prayers. Smile :)
