I saw this poem and had to share...another reason why I'm Never Growing Old...

What are you thinking when you're looking at me?
A crabby old woman, not very wise,
Uncertain of habit, with faraway eyes?

I'll tell you who I am as I sit here so still,

I'm a small child of ten ... with a father and mother,
Brothers and sisters, who love one another.

A young girl of sixteen, with wings on her feet,
Dreaming that soon now a lover she'll meet.

A bride soon at twenty -- my heart gives a leap,
Remembering the vows that I promised to keep.

At twenty-five now, I have young of my own,
Who need me to guide and secure a happy home.

A woman of thirty, my sons now grown fast,
Bound to each other with ties that should last.

At forty, my sons have grown and are gone,
But my man's beside me to see I don't mourn.

At fifty once more, babies play round my knee,
Again we know children, my loved one and me.

For my sons are all rearing young of their own,
And I think of the years and the love that I've known.

I'm an old woman now, and nature is cruel.

The body is crumbled, grace and vigor depart.
There is now a stone where I once had a heart.

But inside this old carcass, a young girl still dwells,
And now and again my battered heart swells.

I remember the joys, I remember the pain,
And I'm loving and living life over again.

I think of the years, all too few,
Gone to fast, and accept the stark fact that nothing can last.

So open your eyes, open and see,
Not a crabby old woman you'll see;
Look closer ... and see ME!

Remember this poem when you next meet an old person who you might brush aside without looking at the young soul within ...... We will one day be there, too!

Merry Christmas Eve and a Recipe!!

Merry Christmas Everyone! My presents are bought, wrapped and ready to go! Although I am missing a couple of presents that haven't been delivered yet! I am hoping the mailman will come through for me today.

I got up early this morning and made my Grandmother's Old Fashion Soft Sugar cookies because Tall kept "reminding" me that I needed to make some!

Old Fashion Soft Sugar Cookies

2 cups granulated sugar
3 egs
1 cup butter (softened)
1 cup buttermilk
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 1/2 cups flour

Mix all ingredients together (I use a mixer)...drop by spoonfuls onto a greased (with Pam) cookie sheet. Sprinkle with granulated sugar (can use colored sugar if desired)...bake at 350 degrees until bottoms start turning brown.

You can add a little more buttermilk if you want them more of a flat cookie.

They are very easy to make!

Venti arrived home safely from California on Thursday but we have yet to see him.....hummm...hope this isn't an indication of last year. He did tell me that he is eating dinner with us at my parents house on Christmas Day so at least they are taking turns!

Short's Christmas program at school. He was a Shepherd!

I have not heard back about the job yet. They told me they would let me know either way! Hopefully I will hear something soon!

Today we are going to 5:00pm mass which is the children's mass. We have to get there about an hour before to get a seat because it gets that crowded! After mass the 5 of us are going out to eat. The boys picked Red Lobster! Yum! Bring on the biscuits!

After dinner we are stopping by Short's best friends house for a party. Then its home to relax a little before tomorrow!

Video From Santa!!!!! Free!!!!

I found the coolest thing and wanted to share it with you although you might have heard of it already. I never did and had a ball with it! It is called PNP|Portable North Pole!!!

In just a few easy steps, you can create a personalized video from Santa Claus for your children, friends, family members or colleagues by providing a few little details about the person. Then it is emailed to the recipent and/or watched directly from their site!

It is FREE and I was amazed at how real the video was! It only takes a couple of minutes to answer the questions and the video is available immediately. I did one for all my kids including Venti! Short sat in a trance watching his! It is a lot of fun! Short has watched his several times because he was amazed at how much Santa knew about him!

Let me know if you try it and how much you liked it!!

3.When do you put your tree up? It is already up...since the week of Thanksgiving.
4.When do you take your tree down? The day after Christmas! I like when everything is put away!

7.Favorite Christmas Movie? National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.
8.Favorite Christmas cookie? Sand tarts! (recipe below)

11.Most annoying thing about this time of the year? How everyone is in a big hurry and are rude!
12.Do you like Fruitcake? No!
13.What are you most excited about the holidays? For Venti to come home! He's been in California since October.
14.Do you open presents Christmas Eve or Christmas Morning? We exchange some on Christmas Eve but most of them are on Christmas morning.
15.Will you still be wrapping presents on Christmas Eve? I sure will be!

Sand Tarts!

These are a thin, crunchy cut out shortbread cookie. They are Pennsylvania Dutch and my Grandmother made these. I would sneak and eat them right out of the freezer because I loved them so much! Here is the recipe. Enjoy!!

1/2 butter (softened...not margarine!)
1 cup sugar
2 egg yolks (save the egg whites for later)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 cup floor

Mix all the ingredients...use well floured surface...knead in more flour if needed. Roll our dough with rolling pin...the thinner the better! Cut into decorated shapes using cookie cutters. Brush with the saved egg whites and decorate with colored sugar or cinnamon sugar. Bake on 325 degrees on cookie sheets (lightly greased) until lightly browned. If they are really thin, they will cook quickly!

Go to work. Nothing very exciting. Maybe I should have saved this question for when I actually had something interesting to write! lol..

2. Pudding or Jello?

Definitely pudding! Jello makes me think of when I was little and sick and my Mom made jello. I just don't like the texture of jello...blah!

3. What book are you currently reading?

Sadly none! I wanted to start reading again after I had my foot operated on but for some reason I just didn't have time. I work this week and then I'm off for 2 weeks so hopefully I can find time to read then!

4. What is the first concert you went to see?

Shaun Cassidy! Hehe...I'll never forget it. I was 12 years old and my Mom took my little sister and myself and it was so awesome! I loved him!

Follow Friday 40 and Over!!

Happy Friday!! I hope everyone is doing well! I am still recovering from my foot surgery which went really well. It hurt a lot the night that I had the surgery but then after that it wasn't so bad. Yesterday he took off all the bandages and now I only have on a smaller one. I still have to wear the surgical boot for another week or so. I can walk fine and it hardly hurts any more!

I have been trying to get my Christmas shopping done and I'm probably a little over half way so I'm getting there. Short can't think of anything he wants so I have no idea what I'm going to get for him. You know when your 11 year old can't think of anything then he really doesn't need anything!

Grande and Tall are done with school next Friday so it will be back to a full house again for about a month. Venti is still in San Diego and will be home December 22nd after being away for work since October. I am anxious to see him. Mocha went with us last Saturday to a party so we got to spend time with her. Venti and Mocha will most likely be moving out of state in January with is job (he works for the Federal Highway Administration.) He doesn't have a choice and has to go for about 2 years. That will be really difficult! He isn't sure where they are placing him yet so hopefully he will find out soon.

I have a job interview on Tuesday. I interviewed there a month ago and she called me to say they have 2 more opening and wanted me to interview for these 2 jobs. I'm pretty sure I have a really good shot at one of them. I like my job now and I'm so afraid of leaving and not liking it there but its not downtown like I work now and free parking which is a bonus. I guess I have some thinking to do!

Hope everyone has a great weekend! My goal this weekend is to get the boys together to take the a picture for our Christmas card! I'll be sure to post it!

Hectic! Its tough getting back into the routine of school and work after 2 days off. Blah!

2. What is your favorite kind of milkshake?

Vanilla! Although I wouldn't turn down a chocolate one!

I would say the cell phone because we have 5 phones on it and its always over $225! I cringe every time!

Three. I have my family one, a personal one and my blogger one.

Multi color. I used to only put clear on but now I like multi color....I'll probably go back to clear after a couple of years!!

1. I really need to clean my _________?

Bathroom!! After having the boys home for several days the bathroom is screaming "clean me"....I cleaned it right before they got home last week but it needs it again already. We all use the main bathroom in the hallway since Joe works nights and he sleeps during the day so the master bathroom only gets used by Joe!

2. What food makes you think of Christmas?

Cookies!!! As soon as my foot heals some more I'm going to start baking! Yum!!

3. If you could choose to stay a certain age forever, what age would it be?

I would say 30. How comes I can barely remember that age?? 30 seems to be the perfect age because you are not too young and not too old!

4. What was your first paying job?

Babysitter! I babysat a lot as a teenager!

5. Have you read the Twilight series?

I have not! I'm probably one of the few that haven't read it!

Follow Friday 40 and Over!!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!! I spent the day with my family....minus Venti and Mocha who are across the US in California. Venti is working there until December 22nd. It wasn't the same with him gone but we are looking forward to him coming home.
I am currently lying in bed because I had foot surgery on Tuesday. I had a toe spur and he also drilled a hole in the surrounding bone because of something to do with the cartlidge...ouch! I am having a hard time getting around so I'm shopping online and watching the Hallmark channel!
I wear a boot to walk and I'm using a cane. He said I could use crutches but those things are hard to use! I can get a bath and have to put my leg over the side of the tub...its a good thing I'm flexible! lol. I go back to the doctor's on Monday. I'm glad that I don't have to go back to work until December 5th because there is no way I'd be able to walk from the parking garage to my desk!
Grande and Tall are home from college until next Tuesday which is nice! Joe and I put up the tree and decorations last weekend which I am so glad we did since I can hardly walk!

1. I wish I had more time to __________?

Read! I used to read all the time but I haven't picked up a book in a long time and I really miss reading. I am having surgery on Tuesday (I have a toe spur on my left big toe) and so maybe I will have time after that! Wish me luck!

2. What is your favorite kind of soup?

Tomato soup!! I never get tired of eating it! But I have to have LOTS of Ritz crackers in it!

3. Where will you eat Thanksgiving dinner?

Next door at my parents house! I don't have to go very far! I always make the Baked Corn and I am also making Strawberry Pretzel Dessert!!! Yum!

4. What is your favorite time of day?

I would say between 9pm and 12am. That is when everyone has settled down and is in their room, the house is quiet and the cats are snuggled at the bottom of my bed. Then its "me" time!!

5. Did you start Christmas shopping yet?

So far I have bought one present! Whopee!! lol...I am dreading the list of things that I have to get yet. I wish Christmas wasn't all about the presents!

For those of you who are joining for the first time....Welcome! I post the questions on Sunday evening to give you time to get your post ready. I try to make the questions simple and fun! 1. Does your family/friends know about your blog?

The only one that knows about it is Joe, No one else!!

2. What is your favorite card game?

Solitaire!!! I play it all the time on my iphone!!

3. What do you wear to bed?

I wear one of Joe's old t-shirts....nothing fancy! I'm all about comfort!!!

4. What is your favorite kind of French Fry?

Shoestring! The thinner the fry, the crispier!! Yum!!

5. What is your usual bed time?

My usual bed time is around 12:45am. Joe works nights and goes on break at 12:30am so I try to stay up to talk to him on the phone. If I'm too tired then I usually go to bed between 11pm - 12am.

1. Are you excited for the holidays or are you dreading them?

Dreading them! Although I do love Thanksgiving, I am definitely dreading Christmas. I do every year. I find it overwhelming and a big waste of money. I wish our society wouldn't be out of control like it is. With 4 children + a daughter-in-law it is a task in itself to purchase all their presents...plus the expense! Maybe if money was no option I would enjoy it but since that isn't the case, I am dreading it. :(

2. Do you hit the snooze button or get right up?

I always hit the snooze button! Those 8 minutes are heaven!

3. Do you still have your tonsils?

Yes I do!

4. What was the last piece of candy that you ate?

A Butterfinger! Actually two....but they were the bite sized one's!

5. Do you shop at thrift stores?

I love thrift stores! You never know what you might find. Joe and I always seek them out whenever we travel!

Snow!! In October! Can you believe it? This photo is looking out my window and down the street. We got 7 inches of snow! Yuck! That is not supposed to happen in October! The kids will be Trick or Treating with snow!

I love hearing the sound of rain. It is peaceful and relaxing to me!

3. What is the worst flavor of ice cream?

Hmmm its a toss between cherry or mint chocolate chip! Yuck!

People! I love to read the hollywood gossip!

I'm not sure if this counts, but I'm going to say Ranch Dressing! I like to dip everything in it!

Cats!! I would have a whole bunch but I don't want to be known at the cat lady! lol....here are my 3 babies, Ozzie, Brody and Woody!

The Change Up! We got free tickets from the radio station and took Tall and my niece. It was hands down the funniest movie I have ever seen!

Worrying that something will happen to one of my kids. Having 4 kids is a lot to worry about and I'm fearful when one of them leaves the house!

Who's Line is it Anyway? I don't know why but I can't stand to watch that show!

October update!!

Its hard to believe that October is half over! I am so not a winter person and I'm definitely not looking forward to the cold weather and lately we haven't had to do that just yet! In fact yesterday and today it is in the 80's! I have shorts on today and I'm enjoying the sunshine! I remember when I was in High School it was freezing in October because I was a majorette and wore this tiny uniform that left way too much extremities bear! Heck I'm lucky I didn't loose a limb! Hopefully the warm weather will last. Maybe we won't even have a winter!!!

Things are busy as ever in my household. Venti and Mocha were over for dinner on Sunday and Grande and Tall are home for Fall break so it was really nice having everyone here. I made Venti's favorite Chicken Puffs and he was in heaven! Venti is still in the 2 year training program for the Government (he is a Civil Engineer working for the Federal Highway Administration) and he leaves again on October 24th until December 22nd for San Diego. Then he won't know where he will be working next which is worrisome for him. I am just hoping and praying that he gets a job here as they have 7 opening but they are on a hiring freeze. Their "puppy" is getting huge! He is up to 140 lbs and he is almost a year old. Here is Dudley...the Great Dane!

Can you believe that on Sunday its a year already that Venti and Mocha got married??

My Dad is doing great! The only effects from the Fall that he is still having is his vision. The bleeder in his brain damaged his eyes and the doctor said that it will take awhile to heal. They are slowly improving but he can't see 100% yet. Thank goodness that he is better. I still relive the whole thing in my head everyday.

My job at the Dept. of Revenue goes part-time starting October 31st. I knew when I took this job that it goes part-time from the end of October to the end of January. As much as I want to enjoy it the fact of the missing paycheck is making hard to do so. I will be working 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off. It is really slow at work so I guess that's why they do that. I may have to skip Christmas. Ha! I do have a job interview today with the State Police. If I get that job I won't have to pay for parking and the hours don't go part-time. Wish me luck!!

Grande and Tall have adjusted well to college life. Tall had a really hard time at first but now he really likes it. I'm glad they have each other there (they go to the same college) and they are together most of the time. Grande met a really nice girl there so I'm happy for him. Tall broke up with his girlfriend Kelsey but they are back together again!!

Short is doing well in 6th grade. Basketball is starting soon that's where I'll be on the weekends!!

I have a photoshoot scheduled in November that I am excited about! I'll be sure to post some pictures! I will be posting more often now that I will have lots of time! I have missed you guys so much!!

Knowing that I actually am waking up that day. One never knows what will happen from one day to the next so I am always grateful every day that I wake up!

29!! That is the age that I tell everyone that I am (jokingly).....if only....sigh.....

Red!! I never did like green apples.

Daily. Either myself or Joe will run to the store at least once a day. Its a bad habit that I'm trying to break!

2010 Nissan Rogue.

Crunchy is my favorite although I wouldn't turn down any taco! Yum!

Cracking my knuckles. I did that for years and just stopped because I don't want arthritis even though I heard that you can't get it from that...I don't want to take any chances!!

A Little White Lie....

Do you ever have a day that you wish you could just start over? Well yesterday was that day for me. I was leaving work and was in my car heading out of the parking garage that I park in...the same one that I have come and go for over 7 months now...I swiped my card...the gate lifted...I drove just a couple of feet...turned the wheel to go down the ramp...and BAM!!!   Smack went the back side of my car into the wall because I obviously cut it too close. My heart sank! I didn't know what to do. I was afraid to pull over and look at it because by the way it sounded it had to be bad! The whole way home I kept trying to look in the side mirror to see if I could see anything but I couldn't! I cried the whole way home. My car is only a year old and only has 8000 miles on it!

When I got home, Joe and Short were next door at my parents swimming so I got out of the car and crept around to the side. Gulp! It looked like someone side swiped me! There was paint missing and a couple of small dents plus some big dents! I had to tell Joe and I didn't want it to look like it was something I did......sooooooooo...I called him on his cell phone and said, "Joe, someone in the garage hit my car!".   "What!?" "Someone hit the side of my car!"   "I'll be right up!"

So Joe comes around to the side of the garage and looks at my car. "Omg!" "What happened!" "I don't know...(liar!)...I just saw it when I got home!" "Wow..someone hit you....did they leave a note?"   "Nope." "I'm going up there tomorrow and look for the car that has your paint on theirs."   ("You won't find them I'm thinking...because its a WALL!!)......it would be someone that just parked there for the day!" "Can't you try and use that scratch stuff and fix it??" "Java...it is worse then a couple of scratches!"

So Joe gets out the scratch stuff anyhow and while he's rubbing it on the dents and scratches, the dust from the concrete wall falls off and I couldn't believe he didn't see that! I was holding my breath the whole time. He finishes and it looks a little better but it is definitely noticeable. "Well this sucks....how much is our deductible?" "$500" "That's just great." "Joe I feel terrible...I need to get out of that garage!" "Yes you do! Don't worry about it...its just a car!" "I know, but I feel terrible about it."

So Joe goes back down to my parents house and I go inside...feeling bad because I did that to the car and feeling even worse that I lied to Joe! He is a very understanding man and he would have understood if I would have just told him the truth but somehow it just seems easier to blame it on someone else! I sat on the couch and held a lengthy conversation to God asking for forgiveness and telling him that there are worse crimes in the world and so maybe he could focus on them and not me!

I haven't been able to post for a while because where we live just experienced a severe flood! All from the remnants of Hurricane Lee. If you want to see some pictures, click HERE. I live right around all of this flooding and luckily we didn't have any ourselves. My in-laws had 2 feet of water in their basement. My boss had water in her house that came up to 6 inches from her 2nd floor. She found out yesterday that it is condemned and only had $50,000 flood insurance. So sad. I was called off of work last Thursday and Friday because I work in downtown Harrisburg which is only a few streets away from the Susquehanna River that crested at 27 feet and it is normally at 7-8 feet. My city had lots of damage and so many people have lost their homes and/or had damage. Please say a prayer for those that were impacted by the flood. Some of you may have heard about us on the news! Our boil water advisory was just lifted and we were happy about that!

Some of you will be happy to hear that FOLLOW FRIDAY will begin again on September 23rd!! That is NEXT Friday!!! I have missed it just as much as you have and I'm anxious to "see" everyone again and hopefully some new faces! Hope to see you there!

Of Summer is almost here. Summer is my favorite time of the year and I always get a little down when its over. Even though Fall is nice, we all know what comes after....Winter! Blah! Okay...enough of that subject!

I have been busy, busy, busy! One would think that since our household has gone from 6 to 3 that I would have all the time in the world! But no....taking Grande and Tall to college last Thursday was really hard. They are in different buildings (same college) and so Joe and I had to run back and forth getting them all set up. Then we ran to Walmart to pick up some things that they needed...only $100 later! Prior to that we spend several hundred on "things"....Boy is it ever expensive getting your child ready for college! Its like setting up an apartment! And I had 2 at the same time! I'm sure I'm not the only one and for those that do....you have my sympathy! From cable wires, to nail clippers! I think they have pretty much they need...at least for now. Grande was super excited to go and he was mentally prepared for it because he went for 2 years at a community college but poor Tall on the other hand was very nervous and wanted to come back home with us but I thought it was best if he stayed so he could get settled in and meet some new friends. Both of them went to high school with their roommates so I am relieved about that.

We stayed for over 8 hours and then it was time to say goodbye! Grande practically ushered us out of his room but Tall held on extra tight when I hugged him goodbye. I didn't cry when I hugged Grande because he clearly could have cared less, but when I was hugging Tall the tears started to fall. He cried too which made it even harder. I was so upset by the time I got in the car that I wasn't watching which way Joe was driving and he mistakenly took the highway south instead of north and the next thing you know we were 45 miles the OPPOSITE way and ended up in the next state! Laugh if you must and yes it is funny now but at the time I couldn't stop yelling at Joe because during the whole 45 miles I kept saying that things didn't look "familiar" and he insisted they did! I see why I usually do all the driving! So it took us 3 hours to get home instead of 1!!!

They are coming home tomorrow (Friday) until Monday! Short is missing them terribly and boy is our house ever quite! As much as I miss them I am enjoying not having to worry about what to cook for dinner! With Joe, Short and myself I can make something quick and everyone is happy but when the boys are here I have to make a full 3 course meal! And wow the laundry! I have to actually go around and look for things to make a load! Amazing! And the dishes! Hardly any! And the bathrooms even stay cleaner! But I would take all of that if I could trade it for going back in time and having all of my boys here and making time stand still......

Grande and Tall at college

Venti is home (staying at Mocha's parents house) until September 12th when he leaves for San Diego until December 22nd. After that he is done with the training program and hopefully can stay here or close to here...crossing my fingers! Their dog Dudley is HUGE. He is up to 150 lbs! Here some recent pictures:

My Dad is slowly doing better! I looked out the window yesterday and he was walking around in the yard and that is the first time that he has done that. He still has double vision which bothers him but he said that he is starting to see clearer which I was happy to hear. Thank you all for your words of wisdom and prayers. It really meant a lot to me. I read every single comment and they really brightens day!

We had a visit from Hurricane Irene last week! She left us with a present of a $150 bill for the shingles that blew off of my roof! Thanks Irene!

My job is going okay. My job is considered part-time because from the end of October to the beginning of February I will be working 2 week and then off for 2 weeks. While that does sound wonderful, I don't think we can afford it! Especially over the holidays! How am I going to be able to afford gifts let along paying the bills. I knew this when I took the job but didn't really think about it. Plus I will still have to pay for my parking space which is $145.00 a month. I don't know what I'm going to do! I really wish I could do something at home and make the same amount of money, but I guess I am dreaming. I have been looking for another job but haven't found anything. I wish I had more flexibility too.....sigh....

I will be starting the hops back up!!! I know you all have been waiting patiently and I do appreciate that! Give me another week or two and things should all be settled by then!

He's home!!!

Just a quick update to let you know that my Dad came home on Friday!! He is doing just okay. He hasn't improved much and looks like a fragile older man. It is really sad and I'm hoping that he strengthens back up and gets stronger and stronger. He has lost 25 lbs. He is going to the doctors tomorrow so maybe they will be able to do something for him.

I have been SUPER busy with him and Grande and Tall are leaving on Thursday together for college! They are both going to the same college for the first time! Grande went to a community college for 2 years and so now him and Tall are heading out together. Their college is only an hour away but I can't imagine going from 3 kids to 1!! It is going to be difficult and Short is going to miss them as well. I have been running around trying to get everything they need and that is a task in itself because everything I have to get 2 of everything....my checkbook is being emptied by the minute! It took me awhile to get their student loans figured out and I think that is all set. Whew.....one of these days I will be able to take a breather!

Trying to prepare myself for Thursday....keep me in mind and know that I won't have a dry eye all day.....

When I started blogging it was because I love to write and express myself...plus I thought someone somewhere might actually enjoy reading about all of my adventures. Never did I think that this blog would connect me with people that are genuinely concerned about my well being and that would honestly and truly make a difference in my life. From being there for me when I messed up Venti's HAIRCUT 2 days before he got married....or when I mistakenly CUT my dress for the Wedding. All of your kind and encouraging comments about my Dad mean so much to me! I read every single one and reading each one has lessened my guilt that I was feeling thinking that I was the one that was responsible for him falling.
I do believe that it was God's plan that I stopped to say hi so that I was there to help him when he fell. I did not know the dog was going to run so therefore it was not my fault. It was a horrible thing to watch and I still can't get the image out of my head but I have learned to not have that sinking feeling of guilt when I think about him.

He is still in the hospital. It has been a week and a day and he hasn't really improved much. He is having double vision, he get confused about things, he can't speak a whole sentence and he has no appetite and is hardly eating anything. We are doubting the care he is receiving (or lack of) and I am calling tomorrow to speak to the Social Worker about it. He was on Morphine every 2 hours for the pain in his head but that didn't touch it. Now they have him on Dilata which is a narcotic too and as soon as they give it to him, he is knocked out which is somewhat good because then he can rest but I'm not sure if that is good for him or not. They did another Cat Scan this morning and we didn't hear what the results were yet. Every day we are hoping and praying that he will be better. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers!

On a positive note, my Mom who had broken her leg (or so we thought) went today to have her cast redone because a doctor in the hospital just happened to look at it when he came in to see my Dad and told her that her cast wasn't on right (it was put on by her Podiatrist because he is a friend of hers!).....so she went to an Orthopedic Surgeon today and he took the cast off and said that it was the worse cast he has ever seen and was even going to save it to show as an example of a "bad" cast....they did an x-ray and here it isn't even broken!! She left cast free and is able to drive which is wonderful because now she can take herself back and forth to the hospital which she is so happy about because she feels like she is an inconvenience (even though she isn't!)....my Dad actually smiled when she told him that they took the cast off!!

My parents live beside us and their house sits on top of a hill. On Wednesday I was coming home from work and he was standing on the top of his yard with my sister's 9 month old Weimaraner dog (who is out of control and doesn't listen and they are watching him while she went on vacation).....so I put the window down to say hi and to ask how my Mom is because she broke her leg and had just gotten the cast on 2 hrs prior....he said she was good and that she got a green cast and then all of a sudden the dog started running down the steep hill....my Dad wouldn't let go of the dog so he ran with him down the hill (very fast) and ran all the way to the street where he then tripped on the curb and smacked down into the street face first. I watched the whole thing in horror and couldn't do anything to stop it. He was knocked out for 10 minutes...the ambulance came and took him to the hospital and I rode along.
He has a bleed in his brain, a hematoma on the right side and his shoulder separated from the leash pulling him. He is still in the ICU and not doing very good. Plus he has 14 stents in his heart which is worrisome....I feel like its my fault that it happened because I stopped to talk to him. Plus my Mom is in a wheelchair because she broke her fibula bone so the cast is full leg.

My Mom called my sister who was on vacation and they drove straight home from Florida and got home at 4am to pick the dog up.

None of us wanted my parents to watch the dog because he is really hard to control but my sister said she couldn't find anyone else to watch him. The dog is so bad that my nephews have to "sit" with him during the day while she is at work to make sure that the dog doesn't do anything bad in the house.

Everyone says that its not my fault but I can't help but think that it is. If I would have just went home and not stopped to say hi then maybe the dog wouldn't have did that and he wouldn't have fallen.

I can't get the image of him falling out of my head and I feel terrible for putting him in the hospital. I am really sad and depressed that I did this to my poor Dad.

Joe and I are heading to the beach with some friends on Friday...no kids! I won't know how to act! I just hope the house is in one piece when we get home!

Venti and Mocha drove straight from Chicago and arrived home yesterday afternoon! They are coming over tonight and I can't wait to see them! It has been a long 4 months! I will take pictures! Their Great Dane is supposed to be huge so I can't wait to see him either. He was big 4 months ago so I can't imagine what he looks like now!

I'm sure you have all noticed that I haven't done any of the hops lately. I have decided to wait until the Fall to start them again. I noticed a lot of people not "hopping" on and found out that with everyone traveling and doing their summer things that blogging gets put on the way side. No worries! We can start again in September. Until then I will post things about me! Or the boys...or Joe...or the cats....hehe...I promise to post more after this weekend (the beach)...things should slow down then!

Hi Everyone! Thank you for your patience in my absence! I had a much needed break and feel like I got a lot accomplished!

Venti and Mocha move back next Thursday! Yeah!!! Then Sunday he leaves for a week to go to Texas and then they will be here until September. Then he leaves for San Diego, CA until December. We are excited to spend the remaining of Summer with them! We haven't seen them since March so its been awhile!

Work is going okay. My friend that started the same day as me quit last Friday which I knew she was going to and I'm so bummed that she is gone. We got along so good and I felt like I've known her all my life. She invited Joe and I to her Dad's beach house next weekend so that should be a lot of fun! No kids! hehe....

The boys are doing good...enjoying their summer. Grande just turned 21 (pics to follow) and we took him out which I thought was pretty cool that he'd want to hang with his "cool" parents the night he turns 21....yes his friends came too and yes he drank too much! Grande and Tall are getting ready to go to College! They are both going to the same College (how nice is that!)....and so only Short will be left at home! Talk about going from a full house to just one! Should be interesting!

As you know I went to the Riviera Maya, Mexico for a week with Joe and 3 of the 4 boys. We had a really great time. There was a tropical storm the last 2 days there and all it did was RAIN! Non-stop! Then when we got to the airport in New Jersey we found that our flight to PA was canceled and had to stay in a hotel....with no luggage...I didn't even have a comb! Boy did I look pretty! We had to wear the same clothes any everything. We were supposed to get home on June 28th at 10:02pm and ended up not getting home until June 29th at 2:00pm! I had to call off of work and had to take a day off without pay...boo.....but we finally got home and I had a weeks worth of 5 people's clothing to wash. All is done and now to enjoy the rest of summer.

That's what's been going on with me....well at least the quick version!

If I had to pick one favorite food, I would say Pizza!!

2. What color scheme is your bedroom?

Oh boy...my bedroom is in need of some updating! The carpet is green, the curtains are maroon and the comforter is a mixture of browns! I am putting that on the list of "things to do!"

3. Do you carry a donor card?

No I do not. I probably should though!

4. In your opinion, is the glass half empty or half full?

It is definitely half empty! Half full just sounds backwards! Apparently I'm a pessimist for thinking that it is half empty instead of half full!

That is a tough one! Although I do love both, if it came down to picking one or the other I would go for the chocolate! What girl doesn't want her chocolate!!

How tall they are! I don't know why, but I notice that first!

Sadly I do not. I would especially love some home grown tomatoes but the farmer down the road sells them so I just get them there!

Raspberry!! I especially love YoCrunch!!! There's just something about the granola!

2. Ankle or knee socks? and on the same theme, white socks or colored?

Ankle for sure...I don't think I even own any knee length! Definitely white colored.

3. How is the weather right now?

Hot, Humid and Stormy! Its been in the upper 80's all week and we have had thunderstorms almost every day!

4. Are you a fast typer?

I would like to think that I'm pretty fast! I think I type around 55-60 wpm...so not too bad!

5. Red or White Wine?

Red makes me sick so definitely white wine! Moscato is my favorite!

My Little World.....

Happy Tuesday everyone! Thought I would update you on what's been going on with me! LOTS of things! First I want to start with my BFF Emily because you have to go and read her personal story (its a dousy) and give her some love and support...she could really use it! And speaking of Emily, she asked a couple of questions in a comment under the post I wrote for Tall's High School Graduation recently and I wanted to be sure to answer them here because I thought they were questions that everyone might want to know!

Emily: Where were Mocha and Venti on this huge family day for Tall???? They aren't in the pictures; they weren't there! Where were they?!

Me: Mocha and Venti are currently living in Chicago! They moved there in February for his job (he works for the Federal Government) and is in a 2-year training program which includes LOTS of traveling! They are living with Mocha's sister and her hubby which makes it really nice for Mocha and Venti. They will be home toward the end of July where they will then be living with Mocha's parents. He will commute an hour to work until September when he moves to Los Angeles until mid December (she is not moving out with him...she will be visiting him once or twice...hmmmmmm..no one can figure that one out!) After Los Angeles his training is done and he will hopefully be able to work out of the office here in this city..so cross your fingers!!!

Emily: That is a HUGE and BEAUTIFUL auditoriom that they graduated in!

Me: Yes it is! The inside is made out of 8 varietes of marble! You can read more about it HERE.

Emily: Where is Kelsey going to go to college?

Me: Kelsey is going to West Chester (near Philadelphia)...but that may not matter (see below)

Thank you Emily for such great questions!

After graduation came Senior week. That was hard to see Tall go. He made it home safe and sound but without one thing.....his girlfriend! Yep him and Kelsey broke up. They actually broke up twice during the week. She was also there but stayed down on 14th Street and Tall was up on 84th Street. They have broken up before...several times...so we will see if they get back together or not!

School is out! Short finished last Friday and Grande and Tall have been done. I wish I could be home with them. This is the first Summer that I have to work so I am really sad about that. Speaking of work....I've been at my new JOB for 4 months now. It is going just okay. I really like the girl that I am working with so that helps but I find myself wishing that I would have just left well enough alone and stayed where I was at! And now the girl that I work with just told me that she is leaving the end of June because she wants to be home with her kids! Well so do I! But unfortunately I need the paycheck. Oh boy...I don't know what to do! I wish I didn't have to work an 8-5 job. I have been thinking alot about what I could do and I haven't come up with anything yet! If you have any suggestions, please let me know!!!

We leave for Mexico in 2 weeks. They kids are very excited. Their passports just came in the mail so we are all set. I wanted to bring my phone and or laptop along and update you guys everyday but the internet is $15 a day and the data charges on my phone are outrageous so unfortunately a vacation it will be....meaning no electronic devices! I will just have to update you when I get home! I'll be sure to take lots of pictures!

Joe and I have been trying a low carb diet for a week now which is very hard for me because I seriously could live on bread alone and be fine! So far I have lost 6.5 lbs which is really good for one week. I started at 127 lbs which is a lot for me. I want to be around 115 lbs so I will be bathing suit ready for Mexico. I haven't been eating very much because I don't like a variety of foods. I have 2 hard boiled eggs and 3 slices of bacon for breakfast. A beef stick at my morning break. Egg salad or tuna salad, a pickle and a sugarfree jello for lunch. A handful of almonds for my afternoon break. Dinner is chicken and snow peas, green beans or asparagus. For an evening snack I have Creme Brulee! Yep! Believe it or not but it is low in carbs! Here is the recipe if you want to try it!

Custard Ingredients

2 cups heavy cream
4 egg yolks
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons granular Splenda
dash of salt

Topping Ingredients

1 teaspoon regular sugar

Preheat oven to 350°F.
Warm cream in a saucepan over medium heat, until bubbles just begin to form. Remove from heat and set aside.
In a bowl, whisk together egg yolks, vanilla, salt, and Splenda. Gradually whisk in cream...do it slowly so you don't cook the eggs!

Divide into ramekins, then bake in a water bath for 25-30 minutes, until set but still jiggly. Chill for one hour.

Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of regular sugar (has only 4g carbs!) on top of each ramekins. Place ramekins under broiler in the oven until they start to bubble and brown. Remove from oven and let cool before refrigerating. Store them covered in the refrigerator and enjoy straight from the fridge! They are so yummy!!!

I had a Hershey's Nugget with Almonds!

2. Do you "read" in the bathroom?

Hehe....I actually am not a reader in the bathroom! Maybe once in a while I might but for the most part, I do not! Did you know that June is National Bathroom Reading Month?

3. I can't stand when someone Hum's!

I don't know why but it really bugs me when someone hum's....especially when I am shopping and someone around me hum's to the music....lol...the funny thing is that I occasionally find myself doing the same thing!

4. Do you do daily, weekly or monthly grocery shopping?

Daily! I seem to always need something at the store and either Joe or I will stop and get it. We do go on the weekends and get larger orders but we still end up stopping in mostly every day.

Graduation!!

As you saw from yesterday's post, Tall graduated last Thursday! It was a beautiful graduation and my heart swelled with pride! No I did not cry....I saved that for Saturday when he left for Senior Week to the beach for a week! Yikes! He has called every day..some days twice a day so I know he misses home...and me! hehe....I'll breathe a sigh of relief when he comes home on Saturday. Short's last day of school is Friday. I wish I could be home with them over summer but unfortunately I'll be at work instead. :(

1. What is your favorite bagel flavor?

Panera has these Cinnamon Crunch Bagels that I absolutely LOVE!!!

2. If you had an extra $100 right now, what would you spend it on?

Summer clothes!! I need some shorts, sundress, shoes, purse, tops, etc....I could get a lot for $100 because I never pay full price for anything!

3. What is the last thing that you felt guilty about?

$19.00 for 2 drinks! Joe and I too Tall and Short to dinner on Friday night to a Mexican restaurant and we ordered 2 Watermelon Margaritas because the waitress talked us into getting them because she said they were really good and they were the "specialty" drink of the day. Well not only were they not very good but then when the bill came and our 2 drinks cost the same that all the food cost!! I still feel guilty about spending that!!

4. Soft serve ice cream or hand dipped?

That's a tough one because I like both but I guess if I had to choose I'd go for the hand dipped!! Especially peanut butter! YUM!

5. Are you allergic to anything?

The only thing that I know for a fact that I am allergic to is Bee's! I swell up like you can't imagine! Yikes!!

That make me happy!! Since I started working full-time, every second of the day matters to me...especially when I'm getting ready in the morning (and getting Short ready for school at the same time)...I have just purchased something that makes my life easier! All for $10! I got this really great jewelry organizer at the Dress Barn and now picking out my jewelry each morning saves me lots of time because its all right there in front of me!!

Smooth!! I don't like anything crunchy in it!

Yellow!! Although any color of rose is beautiful, if I had to pick one it would be yellow. They look like sunshine!!

Yes we sure do! Too many things can be tracked in from outside...plus it keeps the floors and carpet cleaner!!

Summer! I like the heat, the activities, the get-together, the food...I love all of it!!

Oh boy...too many! On an average, I spend about 6 hours a day!

Thank you all for the wonderful birthday wishes!!! It really meant a lot to me! I had a great day! My co-worker got me a cake and 2 nice cards. When I got home Joe and the boys were waiting with presents! Then apparently Joe had already fed the boys and had dinner all planned for just the 2 of us! He went and bought my favorite salad, steamed shrimp and made Pomegranate Martinis! Then later they had birthday cake for me! It was all very nice and all the effort Joe put into making it special meant so much to me! This is a picture Joe took...I changed into my comfy sweats when I got home from work!

What's been going on......

Whew....thing are hopefully settling down for me! Taxes are done....Venti, Tall and Shorts birthday's....done...our Anniversary done...Easter....done....now its smoothing sailing until our vacation in June and Grande's birthday in July! Maybe now I can get back to some regular blogging!!

In case you missed my last update and want to catch up, start here.

My job is going well. The other girl that I started with that doesn't like it and is looking for another job is still there. I'm hoping she sticks around but if not I'll be fine without her! I have the job pretty much down pack now so its much easier and I feel like I know what I'm doing!

I did end up getting my period but it was really light and only lasted 2 days which is kinda strange but I'm gonna guess that the vasectomy did work and I'm not pregnant. I was nauseous the other day after lunch and my boobs feel heavier but I just find it very hard to believe that after all these years it stopped working. It has to be something to do with the beginning of menopause and just leave it at that.

Short just had a birthday and turned 11! We look him bowling which we haven't gone in years and everyone had a blast. I couldn't believe how many muscles you use when you bowl because when I got up the next day I could really feel it!

His birthday choice was orange sherbert! He didn't want cake!

He got an Ipod Touch which he was thrilled with!

Tall is going to the prom with his girlfriend next Friday. We just ordered his tux and the flowers. I'll be sure to post lots of pictures!!

I hope everyone has a nice Easter. Mine was okay. If you remember me saying that when Venti moved out to Chicago that we could communicate via Skype. We did Skype on Short's birthday and it was awesome! That was on the 20th....well ever since then we were saying that I would bring my laptop to my parents house to Skype on Easter with Venti and Mocha and that way everyone could say hello and "see" each other. Venti said that was a great idea. Well Easter morning he text me to say Happy Easter and I text back saying the same and to let me know what time he wanted to Skype. He wrote back saying they were going to Mocha's sister's husbands house for dinner and they would be eating at 2pm and that he would let me know. So I took my laptop to my parents house, hook it all up..connected the internet and waited..and waited.
Finally at 5:15pm when I didn't hear from him yet and my one sister and her family were leaving, I text Venti and asked him what time did he want to skype because people were starting to go home....he never text me back until 5:30pm and said that they just got done eating (even though he said earlier they were eating at 2pm) and that he wouldn't be able to skype and that maybe we could do it next weekend! I couldn't believe it! Like everyone was going to come back next weekend just to skype! He didn't call all day or did he call his Grandparents. If you remember from Christmas and the incident that happened that day you would think he wouldn't have pulled another one this holiday! Sigh...

Tall finds out this week his SAT scores which will determine if he gets into the college he wants to go to...the one that Grande already got accepted to. I'm crossing my fingers!
